The two wives of the Ang of Shingachinyu with his main wife on the left and his secondary wife in the centre. On the extreme right is the current attendant to the Ang. The young woman, second from left, is the wife of the Ang’s son. The older women wear multi-strand necklaces. The beaded necklaces are often so numerous that they cover the entire upper body. The pronged spears that they hold are ceremonial mud sticks and may only be held by the females of the Ang as a sign of her status. Mon District, Nagaland.
